It is believed that this is the day Sage Vyasa, the Hindu guru was born. The day is therefore referred as Vyasa Purnima. Sage Veda Vyasa is highly revered for the contribution of the Vedic hymns. This is a day where all disciples humbly pay gratitude to the teacher and thank the Guru for being there as a teacher, mentor and guide. The Teacher Student Relation (Guru Shishya Parampara) is a major feature of Indian culture. So students bow down to their teachers on this day and respect the teacher for all that they have given.
In this world of sudden impact and instant gratification, our guru is the only steady feature in our lives. He stands for us, all the while and it is our humble duty to spend this day showing our gratitude towards them. Let us thank all our teachers who have made us what we are today and salute them for making us what we are today!
