LOOTERA - Movie Review

This monsoon, get romantic with artistic periodic love story.
After ‘Udaan’, Vikaramaditya Motwane gives another classic, masterpiece love story ‘Lootera’. The film is set in 1953 and it’s simple, classic, quiet and artistic emotional love story with a dark mystery. Though the movie is inspired by O. Henry's short story 'The Last Leaf', it has its own uniqueness.

The on-screen chemistry between Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha is amazing. Their feeling for each other, discussions about their dreams and love story, their fight and the final climax scene leaves you chocking. Raveer Singh as Varun does good job but probably not beyond the expectations. The surprise package of movie is Sonakshi Sinha as Pakhi. She proved that she can act very well, even with her eyes. She seems to be perfect for this role.

To direct periodic love story is a tough job, and Motwane has done it very nicely. Music by Amit Trivedi is superb. All the songs and background music are soul of the film. The background songs of Geeta Dutt and Mohammad Rafi will take you again in old era. One can also find lot of similarities with movie 'Fanaah', but story is different. The location of Delhousie is captured very well with Bengali touch……’Khub Bhaalo’.

Beware, don’t get Looted yourself if art, slow and emotional love stories are not your cup of tea. Otherwise all good cinema lovers will like this Varun and Pakhi’s ‘Sadiyon purani, aisi ek kahaani, reh gayi ankahi….!’
